PSYCHO-SOCIAL SERVICES FOR SCHOOLS (2023): Ref CWFCT23 – 05/01/2023

The Cookhouse Wind Farm Community Trust invites all interested service providers who meet the requirements and have the requisite skills and experience in offering Psycho-Social Services and support to schools. The main objective of the project is to provide Psycho-Social Services and Support to 26 schools in Adelaide, Bedford, Cookhouse and Somerset East. The project is earmarked for Teachers, Learners and Parents or Guardians of vulnerable learners in this identified area.

Rationale

Teaching comes with a lot of demands for both Teachers and Learners. Teachers work under a lot of pressure due to challenges that include amongst others being under-staffed and under-resourced schools. Learners experience psycho-social challenges including substance abuse, poverty, victims of domestic violence etc. All these challenges require Teachers to adapt at the expense of their wellbeing. The Trust engagement with schools and formal requests received highlight how stressful the teaching job is and emphasize the need for psycho-social support for both Teachers and learners. Families of vulnerable learners are equally impacted.
